When you reach out and look for a therapist, you need a space to explain your issues in confidence. You will have questions you will want to ask me, about the way I work and how the process occurs.
I can offer you a 20 minutes telephone consultation, exploring your initial questions and giving me a sense of what you need.
In our first session we will look at your reasons for coming to see me and at your expectations. I will ask you to outline your life story in brief. This will give me some more understanding of who you are. If we decide to work together, we will discuss and agree on how to proceed.
I work with adults – individuals, couples and groups. For individual and couple work we will have weekly sessions of 50 minutes to one hour, though sometime we may decide to meet more frequently or have longer sessions – depending on the needs arising. The sessions are led by the issues you bring in, which we explore in a non-judgemental way. I adhere to a strict confidentiality code, set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Group sessions last an hour and a half to two hours, depending on circumstances. I facilitate the group, whilst group members interact and take active part in the process. The group can focus on one or more members’ issues, or look at group dynamics.
Psychotherapy requires commitment, to fully work through what you bring in. It is not a ‘drop in’ experience. We will discuss ending therapy appropriately and arrange for a process of closure.
Life Coaching. We will set up regular meetings, where we consider your progress. The meetings are one hour long .
Psychological supervision. As a practitioner, you would require regular supervision of your work. I offer supervision sessions, individually and in groups and receive supervision myself.
